The Junior League of Greater New Haven, Inc. is a not-for-profit women's organization that provides leadership, volunteer training, and service opportunities to its members. Through its activities, League members demonstrate their commitment to and involvement in the city of New Haven and its surrounding communities.

The purpose of the Junior League is to provide volunteer training to its members through workshops, seminars, and hands-on experience in the development and implementation of the League's many projects. Women in the League learn skills such as grant writing, accounting, public relations, event organization, coalition building and public advocacy. In turn, League members contribute these skills to other community organizations.

Welcome to the Junior League of Greater New Haven!

Founded in 1923, the Junior League of Greater New Haven has sought to effect positive change in the Greater New Haven community by promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and supporting the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

Any woman committed to improving her community, regardless of race, religion, or national origin, is welcome and encouraged to join the Junior League of Greater New Haven. Through workshops, guest speakers, and experiential training, the League organizes and trains over 135 active and sustaining members for effective action and leadership in the Greater New Haven community. The training our members receive through their volunteer service with the League enables them to become positive agents of change in the community within their own businesses, schools, and nonprofit organizations.

During our 86-year history the League has provided thousands of dollars and volunteer hours to support our community. This year, our League’s focus on the issues of children and families in need has generated collaborations with the Connecticut Food Bank, New Haven Home Recovery, and the New Haven Public Schools. Through these partnerships, our League has provided more than 1,300 hours of volunteer service, has donated more than 1,000 books to the New Haven Public Schools, and has helped to bring awareness to and alleviate such community issues as childhood obesity, domestic violence, and illiteracy.

Through the combined efforts and generous support of our volunteers, partner agencies, and donors, we are able to apply creative solutions to current and future challenges and to strengthen our community.

Please explore our new website to learn more about the Junior League of Greater New Haven and how you can partner with us to improve our community.

Thank you for your interest in the League. We hope to see you soon!

Best wishes,
